Music theory is a great resource for students to understand the musical score, and lay a solid foundation for those who may become composers to create music.
ABRSM Grade 5 music theory is compulsory for those pursuing ABRSM advanced grade 6-8 instrumental performance exam(piano, violin and many others), it is particularly recommended for students who are seeking higher level of musical skills/performance.
The exam is delivered online, the students can take the exam at any time when they are ready. The total exam time is 2 hours; the full mark is 75, pass is 50, merit is 60, and distinction is 65 and above.

Official Past Exam Papers & Model Answers: Working through real past papers is essential, to fully understand the exam strategies for all types of questions and obtain good marks.
"AB Guide to Music Theory": a comprehensive guide of ABRSM music theory, covering all knowledge in Grade 1-5 as well as higher grades (6-8).
ABRSM Music Theory Online Practice Platform: ABRSM offers an online platform, which simulates the actual online exam environment.
Total preparation time for this exam depends on student’s progress. In our 1-to-1 lessons, it could be completed in a few weeks / months, as long as the student achieve around 60 marks for a good preparation to stably pass the exam or get higher marks.
