Alice is an experienced pianist/accompanist (chorus, vocal, and instrumental) and senior piano teacher in London, China and Malaysia. She graduated with Master of Education in Music from Royal College of Music, and with Bachelor of Music with Honours from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
Alice has dedicated and personalized teaching approaches for students. Each student is encouraged differently in relaxed and enjoyable way to the best of their understanding and ability, in order to foster their interest and love of music. On the other hand, aural exercises, piano technique, musical expression and interpretation, as well as performance preparation and practice can be stimulated and progressed with various methods, to help them learn for pleasure or with the goal of sitting graded, school or college exams, and preparation for festivals and competitions.
In the meantime, as the Gold Award/First Prize winner of piano competitions, she traveled and performed widely with singers and instrumentalists including St. Paul Church, Russian Centre for Science and Culture, National Musicians Church Holborn, Royal London Hospital, St Mary Abbots Church, Hanover Square, Grand Theatre in China, etc, being acclaimed for “beautiful and touching performance”, “deeply moved by performances, absolutely exquisite”, “ a superb range of pieces that showed mastery of the different styles”. She also is working as an exam accompanist/pianist for vocal, string and other instruments.
She has been appointed as an examiner both for China Conservatory of Music (CCMusic, China) and International Musical Arts Association (IMAA, USA). Being an examiner provides great insight into how the graded exams are constructed and how to teach students to better prepare in their exams.She has helped many students to successfully passed and achieved distinction in the music exams such as ABRSM and Trinity for years.
